This course will cover:
- The assessment of periodontal and implant tissues.
- Diagnosis of periodontal and peri-implant conditions and an insight into prognostic tools.
- Steps in managing periodontal disease in general practice both within an NHS and private setting.
- Non-surgical management of periodontal and peri-implant diseases.
- The use of adjunctive to help with initial therapy.
- Multidisciplinary aspects of periodontal and implant treatment
- Factors that help to determine the next steps in the long-term management of your periodontal and implant patients
- Protocols for the long-term maintenance of periodontal and implant patients.
- Evidence-based dentistry. What it means and how this approach can be implemented into clinical practice
At the end of this course you will have:
- Refined your ability in the assessment, diagnosis and management of periodontal and peri-implant conditions
- Refined your clinical skills through practical sessions in a phantom head setting
- Honed your communication skills in relation to periodontal and peri-implant diseases.

A large portion of the course will be hands on practical sessions where you will be improving your overall surgical skills and have the opportunity to practice surgical techniques on gingival tissues. Microscopes will be available for all delegates.
By the end of this course you will:
- Understand the rationale, indications and principles of surgical endodontic treatment and improve clinical results with endodontic treatment.
- Refine surgical skills specifically in relation to surgical endodontics, focusing on flap design, apical management including retro-preparation with ultrasonics and root-end filling, soft tissue handling and suturing.
- Appreciate the indications for the use of biomaterials in apical surgery.
- Gain hands on surgical experience, including the use of biomaterials.
You will also receive:
- Information on the consent process including a template outline for written consent.
- Information on post-operative care including a patient information sheet template.
- An outline of a surgical kit.
At the end of this course you will have:
- Have an interest in Endodontics and want to advance their treatment planning and clinical skills.
- Are interested in building confidence in apical surgery and refining their skills.
- Are thinking about a longer endodontic training programme and want an introduction.
CPD points and certificate:
The course will give you 14 hours of verifiable CPD. You will also get a certificate of attendance.

This course will:
- Improve your confidence in providing endodontics in practice by covering diagnosis, treatment planning and the provision of root canal treatment in a general dental practice setting.
- Microscopes will be available for all delegates during the hands-on sessions, which will form an integral part of the programme.
- Give you the opportunity to learn predictable access, canal preparation and obturation techniques, picking up tips from a Specialist Endodontist with over 10 years of practice limited to endo.
- Cover single file systems, conservative canal preparation, warm obturation techniques and single cone obturation with calcium silicate-based sealers.
By the end of this course you:
- Understand the rationale, indications for and principles of root canal treatment to facilitate predictable treatment results and save teeth.
Refine diagnostic and treatment planning knowledge, focussing on case selection.
- Develop your root canal treatment procedures focusing on access cavity design, irrigation techniques to predictably disinfect canals, canal preparation using a variety of file systems and predictable obturation methods.
- Gain hands-on experience with endodontic treatment provision using a dental operating microscope.
